107.5 WBLS' Morning Man Steve Harvey Put His Hat in the Haitian Relief Campaign

January 27, 2010 New York City - 107.5 WBLS has joined forces with the World Vision organization and this Friday, January 29th, WBLS' morning man Steve Harvey will take to the mic starting at 6am for a "Radio-thon" to raise funds for the Haitian Relief efforts.

Steve will be asking listeners for pledges for their dedications and requests, and listeners will be able to pledge directly to World Vision by calling 866-798-HOPE or by logging on to WBLS.com. Special guests on the "Radio-thon" include
R&B great Keith Sweat, WBLS' new Quiet Storm host from 7pm-12midnight, Grammy award winning CeCe Winans and Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Updates from Haiti's capitol of Port Au Prince will be done via Sat phones from World Vision's crew in Haiti.

Kicking things off this Thursday from 3pm-7pm will be Jeff Foxx, who will feature updates from WBLS Caribbean Fever host Dahved Levy, who has been actively involved in NYC's Haitian Community’s efforts to locate family and friends affected by the earthquake.

The "Radio-Thon" is one of many Haitian Relief initiatives. WBLS and its sister station 1190 WLIB have several relief programs in the works including a campaign to get local children involved in the efforts. Log onto WBLS.com for more information and for a list of organizations accepting donations.

1190 WLIB and 107.5 WBLS are subsidiaries of the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation founded by the honorable Percy E. Sutton and fellow African-American investors in 1971. ICBC's 1190 WLIB is New York's first Black owned radio station and WBLS is New York’s on'y black-owned FM radio station. Stations WLIB and WBLS were purchased by parent company ICBC in 1972 and 1974 respectively.
