Steve Harvey Kicks Off Fit and Fly Campaign for Mentoring Weekend Fundraiser

"Fit and Fly" Fitness Challenge to Raise Funds for the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend

ATLANTA, GA (January 8, 2010) - Multi-faceted entertainer Steve Harvey is getting on his bike and pedaling up to four hours daily in a new challenge called "Fit and Fly" he has just kicked off on his long-running radio show, The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Broadcasting live from his recumbent bike during the show, Harvey will keep pedaling to raise funds for his Annual Father's Day Mentoring Weekend, encouraging listeners to get fit and support mentoring.

January is National Mentoring Month, and from 6 AM - 10 AM EST on The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Steve Harvey will encourage listeners to keep him going on the bike, and join him in exercising and being a mentor. Challenging his show's 7 million listeners to help themselves lead healthy lives and help kids, Harvey is raising funds to expand his Annual Father’s Day Mentoring Weekend to 9 other cities, to mentor 1,000 boys in 2010. A program that brought together 100 boys ages 13-18 and their guardians to Harvey’s Dallas ranch for a weekend of unforgettable experiences, Harvey is pedaling to raise $1 million.

Expanding on his Annual Father’s Day Mentoring Weekend, Steve Harvey held the first Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men in June 2009 to great success. Transforming his Dallas, TX ranch into "Harvey Town" during Father's Day Weekend, Harvey hosted 100 boys from across the country for a 4 day, 3 night specially-designed range of activities and entertainment to help them prepare for their futures. Says Harvey, "That weekend in 2009 was a life-changer, and I am going to keep pedaling to make the Mentoring Weekend bigger and better this year! How long can I keep going on this bike? Join me to find out! I'll get tired; I'll get thirsty, but with your help, I will keep going as long as it takes."
