Peter Burns Remembers His Friend Jessica Ghawi After Last Night's Tragic Shooting in Colorado

FOX Sports Radio and Mile High Sports host Peter Burns spent some time with Loose Cannons' Steve Hartman and Vic "The Brick" Jacobs today to share memories about his former intern, Jessica Ghawi, who was killed in the tragic shootings in Aurora, Colorado. Below is a portion of their conversation:

Burns: "[Her] mom told me early this morning, 'I want you to talk as much as you can. Celebrate everything that Jessica did, and celebrate everything that these victims did.' And I'm glad that you guys are giving me the time to celebrate that and talk about how amazing of a person she is, rather than giving a minute or 30 seconds to this coward that did this.

Hartman: "The story is even more unbelievable when you consider that she had cheated death at that Toronto mall shooting...Had she ever mentioned anything about that to you, Peter?"

Burns: "Yeah. After it happened, it was like, 'How lucky am I?' I think it really hit her like, 'Wow. I almost have a new lease on life. Let me make sure I do every single thing...' About a week ago, we had dinner. She goes, 'How do I set up a charity? We had these devastating wildfires here in Colorado. How can I help people out?' She wanted to set up a fund to get people to donate all of their hockey gear for the families that couldn't afford those expendable items. And she looked me in the eyes, and she said, 'I don't want my name attached anywhere to this. Let's do a random P.O. Box. I'm not doing this to help my career. I'm doing this because we need to do this. We need to help these people out.' That's just one of many stories I could tell you about Jessica. Open heart..She was just amazing."
