FOX Sports Radio to Broadcast Inaugural "UFC on FOX" Fight This Saturday, November 12
LOS ANGELES, November 8, 2011 -- FOX Sports Radio will make history on Saturday, November 12, as the national radio network broadcasts the first-ever Ultimate Fighting Championship(R) bout on terrestrial radio. The fight, which is a heavyweight championship match between Junior Dos Santos and undefeated world champion Cain Velasquez, will also be the first in more than 40 years to be seen on broadcast television and heard on terrestrial radio. FOX Sports Radio will simulcast the fight from FOX TV, which signed a deal with the UFC in August and will air ten additional fights live over the next year.
Coverage on fight night from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. this Saturday, November 12, will begin with host and mixed martial arts expert Larry Pepe at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET with pre-fight analysis and interviews from the red carpet. The simulcast of the fight with FOX TV will air from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 - 10:00 p.m. ET. After the fight, Pepe will host a three-hour program from 7:00 -10:00 p.m. PT/10:00 p.m. ET - 1:00 a.m. ET with interviews and call-ins. In addition to coverage on Saturday, the network will also cover the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, November 9, and the live weigh-in on Friday, November 12.
